MANAGER & COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT & RESPONSIBILITIES
The FABC believes that we as Manager and Coaches are held to a higher level of accountability. We believe leadership and great coaching is more a reflection of who we are than the tactics we choose. You cannot motivate players; you can only create an environment where motivated players can excel. As a Manager or Coach you need to engender an even greater love for the game of baseball. You need to act as a positive role model for young athletes both on and off the field. Coaches and Mangers need to develop a more optimistic and positive team environment. We must encourage all levels of player to develop what skills they have in a positive way and environment.
AS MANAGERS AND COACHES WE NEED TO LIVE AND PROMOTE THESE VALUES IN OURSELVES AS WELL AS OUR PLAYERS:
HONESTY: We tell the truth - even when it is difficult. TRUST: We choose to trust, even before trust is earned. MUTUAL RESPECT: We treat people with respect and require all players and parents to do the same. EXCELLENCE: We strive for excellence in everything we do. RESPONSIBILITY: We believe that all athletes must be responsible for their own development. TEAMWORK: All learning is accelerated when people put the team's goals first.

COMPENSATION: I understand as a Manager or Coach that I am not allowed to receive any type of compensation whatsoever. Any coach that charges any amount of money outside of the player registration, for any reason, must provide a financial breakdown of the money requested and provide documentation of how the money is to be used to the Board of Directors for Approval. All coaches shall be volunteers, and will receive no compensation of any form for their participation in FABC. Violators of this rule will be barred from any future participation within FABC, and their team will be subject to forfeiture of all games played.
I authorize and give consent for the sports organization referenced above to obtain my personal information. This includes, but is not limited to employment records/employer’s references; criminal background records/information; criminal background checks/fingerprints; driving record check, financial bankruptcy information, coaching experience, personal references, and addresses. I authorize this information to be obtained either in writing, via internet, or via telephone in connection with my volunteer application. I understand that my position is contingent upon adverse information about my background or character not being uncovered upon the performance of the above referenced checks. I also understand that regardless of my prior volunteer activities on behalf of the sports organization, that the sports organization is not required to allow my continued participation. I agree to hold harmless and indemnify from liability the sports organization and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers from all liability arising out of the use of the information that is uncovered in the above referenced checks.

Affiliates of FABC:

It has come to the attention of the Executive Board of Farmington Amateur Baseball Congress (FABC) that the employer identification number (EIN) of the organization is being given to businesses/sponsors without proper authorization.

We understand that most sponsors ask for this information so that their contribution may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. However, for the contribution to valid, the payment must be reflected on the books of FABC. We are concerned that this is not occurring with some sponsors. Specifically, our concern is that if a sponsor claims to have made a charitable contribution to FABC without the payment being reflected on the books of FABC, then the Internal Revenue Service could view this practice as abusive and revoke the non-profit status of FABC. Furthermore, this practice is considered unacceptable at times when FABC is not actively conducting baseball operations. FABC’s policy is to provide the organization’s EIN to businesses/sponsors at their request and during our normal baseball season (i.e. registration through conclusion of play). Additionally, the sponsor’s contribution is then to be recorded as income to the organization, and if so specified, paid to the benefit of the team the sponsor requested. If you have the EIN of the organization, then please refrain from providing it to sponsors without prior authorization from FABC. Punitive action will be considered and taken, if deemed necessary, against those affiliates who disregard this request.
